Canada - Ontario - The Innisfil 400 Wind Farm

Schneider Power is currently developing a small-scale low-impact wind farm to be located on agricultural land south of Innisfil along Highway 400 situated approximately 5 km west of the town of Innisfil, Ontario, approximately 100 kilometres north of Toronto, Ontario. The plan sees for the construction of  5 wind turbines with a unit generating capacity of each turbine in the range of 2.0 MW with a total potential installed wind power capacity of up to 10 MW.

Innisfil Wind Farm Inc. has received a preliminary connection assessment from Innisfil Hydro Distribution Inc. for connection to the Ontario grid. The Company anticipates making an application to the OPA for one FIT contract with a 20-year term with an aggregate of 10 MW.

With this project we intend to help meet Ontario's electricity needs while having zero emissions of smog and greenhouse gases. The area has a strong wind resource due to exposure to north and west winds coming over an elevated plateau. Due to a rapidly growing demand for electricity in the area our goals are to help boost local electricity production, whilst maintaining the agricultural lands that will continue to be farmed.

Schneider Power is a leader in environmentally friendly building practices and we are committed to building the wind farm in co-operation with the local municipality and residents, to create a showcase wind farm  that is a leader and a model for future developments in Ontario.
