Canada - Ontario - The Arthur Wind Farm

The Arthur Wind Farm is situated near the town of Arthur, Ontario, approximately 15 kilometres west of Orangeville, Ontario, and has a wind power capacity of up to 10 MW once construction will be completed.

The Arthur Wind Farm Project was awarded one SOC with a 20-year term on March 2, 2007, by the OPA for an aggregate of 10 MW, it was subsequently awarded an Advanced RESOP price increase in 2009. Project construction is anticipated to occur in mid 2010. Commencement of electricity generation is anticipated in the third quarter of 2010.

Construction and the Environment

The applicable guidelines that are being followed are the "Environmental Impact Statement Guidelines for Screenings of Inland Wind Farms under the CEAA" and the "Guide to Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects (March 2001)" provided by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. The project is classified as a "Category B Project" under the provincial process.

A zoning by-law to permit a 10 MW wind farm has been approved by the local municipality and a site plan development agreement has been signed.


Project Status

Schneider Power Inc. has completed the relevant permitting process. Pre-construction works at the Arthur Wind Farm have commenced and relevant deposits have been made.
