Our foundation is Renewable Energy Experience

At Schneider Power Inc., we understand electricity. How to produce it, distribute it and provide a secure source of power to our communities.

Today Schneider Power is a wholly owned subsidiary of a NASDAQ listed Company, but our ambitions are rooted in the 117 years of the Schneider family's experience of providing electricity in Germany. The Schneider family has successfully invested in renewable energy since 1892, shortly after Thomas Edison invented the light bulb.

Josef Schneider, a local flour mill owner got a bank loan to buy a generator and converted his mill into a hydro-electric power plant. As demand grew, his sons acquired more flour mills and followed suit, converting them into hydro-electric plants, thus providing clean and safe electric power to the region.

In 1975, the current Executive Chairman of the company, Bernd Schneider, took over the reins from his father. EWH grew to become one of the largest independent power producers in Southern Germany and eventually merged with EVS which would eventually become EnBW AG, Germany's third largest utility with 20,000 employees and annual revenues in excess of Euro 15.5 billion in 2009.

Schneider Power Inc. was founded by Thomas Schneider on April 14th, 2004 and continued to focus on renewable energy in North America by investing directly in clean energy projects. The Company went public in August 2008, listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange. (TSXV:SNE). In 2010 Schneider Power was sold to Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ:QTWW) forming part of a fully integrated alternative energy Company.

Considered a leader in wind-energy, our project teams and partners have installed over 15,000 MW of wind power worldwide. We were the first independent power producer in North America that was recognized and became an official member of the United Nations Global Compact, chaired by former Secretary-General, Kofi Annan. We have proven to the highest body in the world that our company has successfully implemented the advancement of responsible environmental planning, corporate citizenship, public accountability and transparency.

As in 1892, we continue to take leaps of faith in electricity production, using clean and safe 21st Century technology, including the construction of North America's most technologically advanced wind farm to fuel a growing nation and bring power to life for both Americans and Canadians.
